Stretched Religion by EveresshiaWind

:icongabrielignitus:
Looking this in your gallery, I said to myself: "This is something I don't understand, this must be good"
Well, I'm kind of a physicist at heart, if I understand something and read about the subject, I'm not too excited. But, if I have to analyse in order to understand something new, I call that thing interesting.

Well, first thing I saw was the cross on top. Correct me if I'm wrong, but given its position, it's the most important element in this artwork. I also thing that it represents religion and is the only thing clear in the pink-floyd-like drawing. Leading me to the conclusion that faith is easy, but everything else is a mess.

Then I saw the root and how everything was connected. It's a nice way to leave everything intertwined.

Beneath the cross, I thought there was a lot of hair. Took me a while until I figured it was either Jesus or someone random. His face is replaced by the root. Or maybe the message is: Jesus face is the root of christianism. I also saw a thorn, which looks like a horn. Saying: Jesus is a holy figure, but religion corrupts him.

Last, but not least (ha, how cliché) I saw the despicable figure at the bottom. Just looking at it brings me the most despiteul thoughts. It has lips to charm and fangs to devour. As Jesus guy, it is the root of religion. Oh, the irony. Religion built with malice and fallen heroes.

Of course, I had to read the description to figure most of this stuff by myself.

It is, a great way to add a critique (your way, not mine.) and it's a display of originality, thus five stars.
The technique was simple, but greatly executed. Making everything with white lines on black paper... well, kinda too simple. but the dots that added a particular effect saved you from a simple 3.5 to 4.5 stars.
There's a great impact but apparently the lack of comments show that people need something else.

For the Queens' sake, that flash ruined the left part! If you cover whatever it's illuminated with your hand and see the effect white lines have, it's delightful to the sight. But duuuude... it was really annoying.

well, I hope I made myself clear. I loved the message and the way you did it, but I hate flash (not Flash Gordon)
The Artist thought this was FAIR
2 out of 2 deviants thought this was fair.

I wanted to come back to respond to this that way I wouldn't simply rush through it, but I'd have to say, this is by far my most favorite critique. Not many people actually give a damn to sit and analyze my art work. They just look for something pretty, which it's okay just to be pretty, but I look for something a bit deeper than beauty. It's often just an image, and nothing more.

These particular pieces I do from time to time are clearly out of frustration. This time, it was religion that I seemed to anger me. (I hate that word by the way: Religion,) but anyways, my views on life revolve around a Christian based God. I was raised in the bible-belt of the United States, so I suppose it makes sense. Lol. (Not entirely sure where you're from...) Where I'm from, everyone thinks worshipping a pastor in a church is the right thing, but it's a complete contradiction. It's like going to a hospital and expecting there to be no medical mistakes on your charts. You have humans operating on humans. There will be mistakes. Putting your faith in a human being to explain the word of god is about the most ignorant thing I've ever heard of.

So you typically have to start at the bottom and work your way up to the top, right? How are you going to make it past that first step?

There's nothing wrong with going to church. It's just not for me. Some people need help, but I just feel like the church was designed for control, not worship.

So I might revise this piece later on. Lol. You me too Ed the flash? It's actually the shadow off my arm, and the image is inverted. :) I'm poor! I don't have a scanner. LOL.

So sorry about that rant by the way! Thank you so much for reviewing this for me. I would have graded it "excellent" if the option was available. :) I hope you find more interest in my work in the near future!

Art is about being someone you aren't normally. I suppose your work isn't going out the streets and promote atheism with symbols, which makes this art, indeed. I love art. New worlds, new lives, new stories...

Going back in time, you'd see a more violent man, with little philosophy and less concern on keeping a society alive... Then church came to the rescue and like an overexagerating mother said: "be good or you'll suffer forever!"
It perturbed most of the children so bad, that it's still a thing...

Btw, Argentina. Here, life is a manner of chances. High insecurity, corrupted politicians, riots everywhere... You'd be surprised it isn't fiction.

In my review I started from top to bottom, I hope you don't mind xD

People need help, not from something divine, but people. That's why society evolved! We now have ethics, instead of morals. We are better without the contradictions of faith. We humans can change things like gods and they still fear "him".

I must admit, I really thought it was on black paper. You did the best thing you could when you inverted the colours. Pls, use flash so you can erase the "shadow of your arm"

PS: Your name is badass and you should feel badass. Nevermore!

Haha, I missed this reply for some reason.

When I figure out exactly what my faith is, I'll let you know if I agree with you. Lol. But people definitely need help from people, that's for sure.

As far as the art goes, I still have the original somewhere. So at some point in time, I might revise a newer version. Thanks again for taking the time to respond!

And my name seems to attract a lot of attention. Lol
